Executive Counseling

Executive Counseling is offered as part of the Executive Coaching program, where required. This can assist executives deal with issues that are impacting them in the their career or workplace that may or may not be directly a work related issues.

A qualified coaching therapist delivers a discreet and highly effective counselling process, providing a safe place to vent and talk about pressing work problems or life problems that are impacting upon work performance. The content of sessions are held as private and confidential between Coach Counsellor and client.

This can be an extremely beneficial process for those who hold high-level positions of responsibility and may find themselves

  • in the midst of organisational transition and feeling isolated in their organisational hierarchary
  • feel pressed into performing a role that belies their true feelings, in relationship with other peers or team members i.e. emotional maturity within the team
  • balancing work commitments and high performance with their own life transition, i.e. divorce, loss of a loved one, adolescent children, single parenting
  • responsible for a team of professionals facing a health issue such as depression, high anxiety or addiction from one or more of the group

Unless workplace issue and performance are properly addressed, the results of this stress can accumulate, which can lead to individual and team disruption, and physical and mental ill-health, depression, poor judgement, premature aging, and unemployment, involuntarily or voluntary – sometimes euphemistically referred to as ‘early retirement’.

Executives can face a ‘derailment process’ of their capabilities, performance and career development the further up the hierarchy they get. It can feel lonelier and more isolating, with conflicts at work, priorities, Board and Executive team demands, role effectiveness can become even more difficult without support. Time pressure and high stress levels can, and do, often impact negatively on judgement and clear thinking especially during these turbulent global times.

Spouses and friends seldom understand the complex processes of the management task, and probably do not have the expertise to advise the right course of action.

Sharing anxieties or concerns with colleagues or subordinates however, can be fatal for team and career development within the organisation.

Company human resource departments and Employee Assistance Programs offering counseling are often ruled out, for fear of being seen as being weak, or in the same waiting room as other workers, or leaking confidential information.

Executive Counseling is delivered as part of our Executive Coaching program by a qualified Executive Coach and Counsellor, and can be integrated into the overall program or be specifically issue based to support continued executive performance during troubled or stressful times.
